Senior Assistance Fairs are a great opportunity to apply for Silver Horizons’ Utility Assistance program, Food Pantry and Distribution program and Home Safety Modifications and Minor Home Repairs program at one time.
Silver Horizons supports low-income and at-risk seniors by providing programs and resources that help them safely stay in their homes through accessibility and maintenance upgrades; paying utility bills to keep the power, heat and water on; and providing food pantry items, including home deliveries, to seniors who simply do not have food to eat.
Since July 2011, Silver Horizons has collaborated with PNM’s Good Neighbor Fund to provide quarterly Senior Assistance Fairs. These fairs provide low-income and at-risk seniors, their family members and caregivers, the opportunity to get information and seek assistance from multiple resources and community organizations in one location during one event.
Silver Horizons’ Utility Assistance program is an on-going service offered to those who can show proof of their due or past-due electric, gas, propane, or water bill. To qualify for our Utility Assistance program, the Silver Horizons team asks you provide us with the following information:
- Current electric, gas, propane or water bill
- Proof of household income
- Identification for all adults living in the home
- Identification for all children living in the home
Additionally, we ask that you please read our income guidelines for Utility Assistance.
It is our goal at Silver Horizons to ensure timely payment of the bill to avoid having power, gas, propane or water disconnected. Providing us with the items listed above helps us process the bill payment quickly and efficiently.
Silver Horizons provides assistance to more than 1,000 seniors quarterly at Senior Assistance Fairs held in collaboration with PNM’s Good Neighbor Fund and provides more than 300 households with utility assistance and groceries at Senior Assistance Fairs.
